Pagurus samuelis (Blueband Hermit Crab)

There are many species of hermit crab (superfamily: Paguroidea) present in the Oregon intertidal. Among the most common is the blueband hermit crab, which prefers to live in the shell of the black turban shell. They have distinctive blue banding near the joints of their walking legs and long reddish-orange antennae. These crabs feed on algae and scavenge dead animals. (wallawalla.edu)
