Oligocottus maculosus (Tidepool Sculpin)

This common species of sculpin is found from the intertidal to depths of 102 m. Tidepool sculpins exhibit impressive homing behavior, and are able to leap from pool to pool at low tide to return to their home pool. As juveniles, they establish maps of the intertidal area they reside in and are able to follow established routes throughout their lives. They are omnivores and often feed on small crustaceans and polychaetes. (Gibson 1993, fishbase)
